Henry St Median – Planting Complete

Henry St Median – New Sugar Maples Planted 2/16/2011 At the invitation of Pam Doumar and Mary Moretz, both Henry Street residents, Trees for Augusta, Inc. has been busy this summer formulating a plan for refurbishing the trees located in the Henry Street median from Fleming Avenue to Peachtree Street. The plan is based on the concept of reinforcing the current plan of dogwood trees, grass, and azalea beds. With the help of Roy Simkins, certified arborist, and Tim Hill, BLA, University of Georgia, Trees for Augusta, Inc. is putting the finishing touches on a plan which includes: Removing 6 damaged dogwood trees. This has already been accomplished Removing dead limbs on the existing dogwood trees. Extension of the current sprinkler system. Soil amendment and mulching for all trees. Planting 18 new Sugar Maples “Sandersville” and 5 dogwood trees. The Sugar Maples were planted on February 16 – 17, 2011 by the Barrett Tree Company. A part of the total median plan is to remove the existing azalea beds.
